Learning and More Learrning

I never realized how hard it was to raise children let alone a "special" child. I use the word special because that is what Daunte' is. A child diagnosed with several "ailments" as the doctor puts it.

ADHD hmmm....OCD....and ODD. Nice little abbreviations for huge words and now a lifetime of trying to figure out how to improve his behavior.

ADHD is common so all of you know the meaning I am sure, but for those of you that don't it is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Yeah shall we say that 10 times back to back or try OCD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, my son can't stand to be dirty. Hands, hair, and any other part of his body for that matter.

Or shall you try this one ODD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder. He purposely hurts his younger sister like tripping her or smashing her head into the floor, in fact she has a nice black eye from the side of a sofa right now.

Time-outs aren't working either he just hits, kicks, and screams more.

In fact what four year old do you know that has put a whole in a wall from throwing tantrums? Probably not many.

I can't spank him and right now I am about to give up trying anything new as discipline.

If I had hair I would pull it out on my own. Any idea guys?

What it feels like to drive your own car? Great!! It isn't what I wanted but it will do for now. I got a 93 Ford Escort LX just yesterday.

Not only did I get a new car but Daunte' finally got on some medicine for his ADHD, OCD and ODD. He is a new child totally different. I can't believe this loving child was hiding under there. He hugs, kisses, and tells Gabbie he loves her now.
