A Day of Memory and Thanks
Yesterday, I sat in Jumpgate, a space sim I play, thinking of what I should be thankful for. That was until I seen a pilot by the name of Chase. My heart stopped that name I thought to myself what is it with that name. Then it dawned on me. In the first years I played Jumpgate we had a pilot with the callsign of Jaxom whom lost his son (Chase was his name) in a massive house fire.
I immediately hailed the pilot thinking that maybe it was Jaxom who has been MIA for quite some time. To my disappointment it wasn't Jaxom making a return from the nether world, but a pilot that was more than interested in the history of his callsign and the importance it held within New Dawn. He thanked me and moved on for the history lesson of Jumpgate.
It was then that I realized two things about Jumpgate, the playerbase, and what I was thankful for yesterday.
1. NetDevil actually does care about it's playerbase. You see when Episode 2: Attack of the Conflux was released. New Dawn learned that in conflux space there was a lone sector named "The Chase". It was named after Jaxom's son better yet in memory of his son, which proved to us that NetDevil does care.
2. I also thought of my own kids that day and how lucky I was to have them. More like how thankful I am to have them.
The moral of this story is be thankful for what you have and who you have before it's too late. There may never be a tomorrow to say I love you one last time.
